A modern fiction novel with very nonfiction principles and values. It's a parable, a guiding story about the struggle we all face when looking for our passion and happiness in life.

If you've ever believed that you're destined for something great, and if you're constantly searching for your purpose, then this novel is for you. Also, if you enjoy observational stories that are chock full of drugs, sex, high-stakes business, money lost, and love found, then this novel is especially for you.

---

David is misunderstood. By everyone, so it seems. The millennial business enthusiast has failed at almost every career he’s tried. Searching for his life’s meaning and enamored by the startup culture in Silicon Valley, David jumps headlong into a job at a small, albeit growing, business.

He soon realizes, however, that while the company is considered a “startup,” it’s as unfulfilling as any corporate job he’s had, and he chooses to pursue his own entrepreneurial venture, believing that if he can become a famous business owner, he’ll find happiness. But not if his previous employer has anything to say about it. In true Silicon Valley fashion, David’s former boss finds out about his new company and sues on the grounds that his former employee is in violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, a federal crime.

Dave is faced with life-altering penalties, fines, jail time, and a dilemma - stay and fight or turn and run? And ultimately, if entrepreneurship isn’t making him happy, what will?

Life in TwentySomething A Story of SelfDiscovery edition by Evan Tarver Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This fiction novel is an insightful read with a perfect balance of real world value and engaging storyline. Life in twenty something identifies with the social, young professional's daily struggle with ideas of passion and purpose in the workforce. Riding along in Dave's rollercoaster tale of life, work and love was enlightening and entertaining. As a twenty something in the corporate workforce, I identified with the thirst for entrepreneurship and having say of one's career. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in business and society.
Wow, what a great read! As an almost college graduate growing up in the Bay Area, I can so relate to the main character Dave. As someone who typically doesn't like to read, Evan Tarver does a fantastic job of engaging young readers with relatable life lessons throughout the book while writing with finesse and intrigue. The rollercoaster of events that occur in Dave's life provide an interesting read and offer relief to and twenty-somethings who are experiencing the same type of doubt and rejection.

Highly recommend for anyone who wants to read an encouraging and uplifting story and an enlightening book about business and society!
Life in Twenty-Something is a perfect combination of a great story and real-world value. As a person in my late twenties, I identified closely with the ideas of passion and purpose in the workforce, and I thoroughly enjoyed the roller coaster tale of failure, rejection, resolve, happiness, and ultimate victory. To succeed in the real world, you have to recognize failure when it slaps you in the face; this book definitely conveys that. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in both an engaging fiction read as well as an enlightening book on business and society. This book can be beneficial to anyone trying to become successful in life and trying to achieve his/her goals.
This book has reminded me of the fire I once had in my late-teens and early-twenties to do something great with myself. We all search for purpose, but the traditional perspective of what we define as "successful" isn't enough for some of us. We, the "day dreamers." The sad part is, we often don't realize how far we've veered from our true ambitions until we're set up in a career, looking back down the road we traveled and asking ourselves how we got here, and, if it's too late to turn back now. At 28, I feel reinvigorated to burst out of the stale complacence that has presided over my hopes and dreams for the last several years. If anything I've said strikes a chord with you, this book is absolutely for you. An excellent read.
Upon completion of the first two chapters, I am hooked. Identifying as an entrepreneur myself, I have a whole lot in common with Dave in regards to his everyday thoughts and dealings. From over analyzing the hipsters at my local cold-brew coffee joint to letting life/business decision curb my productivity, this story has many parallels. The insight is thoughtful and Dave shows the necessary foundation to be a successful entrepreneur. (Self-awareness, vission, & the desire for passion & work-life balance)

It will be fun to watch his remaining path unfold with sure turmoil from his former employer and the complications in holding together his dream to create a Lifestyle Brand that can help him form his legacy. I'm sure to buy this hard copy too if it is available as I enjoyed Evan Tarver's previous book and see this as another valuable hard copy to hand off to a friend or aspiring entrepreneur!
I was pointed to this book by a friend of mine since I work at a tech company in Silicon Valley. My initial reaction that this was going to be a written adaptation of the show "Silicon Valley." Let me tell you, boy was I wrong. I can't say that I personally relate to many books I've read, but this one really got to me.

Evan does a wonderful job illustrating the struggles of a mid-20s millennial through thoughtful storytelling and a challenge to yourself regarding what's really important to YOU. What makes you happy? How do you truly grow as a person? What truly makes you happy vs. what society tells you is supposed to make you happy?

I was pleasantly surprised by this book and definitely recommend it!
Evan Tarver just gets it. This story remains a sometimes harrowing, sometimes absorbing, sometimes frustrating, sometimes moving look into a mind in a state of disarray of a young "millenial".

Others have written more "shocking" books or have been more overtly anti-social, but with Life in Twenty Something, Evan Tarver captures the bitterly confused mind of a man who struggles with his journey through the world, because he's frustrated at his own inability to get along in that world, with such crisp reality that it shocks far more than any fantastical American Psycho.

This is a must read for anyone struggling to figure out what their calling in life is.
